BLOOD WIZARD THE SLIP

Nottingham raised, London-based Blood Wizard returns with a skittish new single 'The Slip', out now on Moshi Moshi Records. A change of pace from last year's Western Spaghetti LP, the Kurt Vile-esque meandering folk has morphed into something wonkier and more bizarre, buzzing guitars, jolting rhythms and triumphant horns combine to create a hard to categorise but immediately catchy sound that is reminiscent of indie pop weirdos Thinking Fellers Union 282. The track features artwork by Faye Robinson and a video by Adrian Vitelleschi Cook that continue the band's distinctive aesthetic. Singer Burns describes the process behind the video: “This song always conjured strong imagery for me, so it was important that it had a video to accompany it. Shot on the island of Tenerife it’s a journey of two oddly dressed humanoids rambling through strange, removed worlds with no end in sight. Contrasting the arid and unusual environments with their peculiar poses and actions was done to create a feeling of futility and isolation, much like we had been feeling during the writing of the song itself.” Check out the video below. -Toby Evans-Jesra
